Adem Colak Design Studio has just completed a new residential project in Milan, in the vibrant
and sought-after area of Milan between Isola and Farini, which is going through one of the major
urban transformations in the city thanks to the regeneration of Scalo Farini, soon to become
an area of cultural and social development for the community.
The interior project involved a 90 square meter flat located in a traditional 1950s building with
typical features from the Milanese architecture that can be often seen in this multicultural
neighborhood of the city. The residence, originally fragmented in its layout with multiple rooms
and lacking breath, light and openness, was reimagined by Adem Colak, interpreting the client’s
needs, through a perceived expansion of the available space thanks to some bold choices
to the structure, in order to combine functionality and aesthetic.

Gateway to Elegance
The space was reimagined incorporating modern design elements while paying
homage to the home’s historical roots: from the entrance, space is opening up to
the living room, where a bronze, slim glass block wall, celebrating the traditional
postwar Milanese modernism, virtually defines the dining space and the living area,
adding an elegant touch to the room.

The blend between traditional and contemporary elements is visible
through the symmetric kitchen, the glass brick wall and the powerful
surface covered in natural terracotta bricks from Cotto Etrusco -

BATHROOM RETREAT
Another recall element of the Milanese tradition comes from the flooring choice of
the bathroom, which captures the eyes and drives the look up to a free-standing bath
tube and two elegant all-height mirrors, creating an inviting atmosphere to enjoy
some self-care and meditation time.Curtains are from Alhambra. Bathtube and sink accessories are from Taorminia series - Ritmonio.

BEDROOM BLISS
The space is finally opening up to the bedroom area, thanks to the
continuous oak parquet, dominated by a king-sized bed, upholstered
in greenish cotton velvet, and embellished by the unique sculptural
chair of Colak’s own design, Geometric Poem.
